Forces entered the country's Afrin province today just 24 hours after pounding the region with airstrikes.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim reportedly said they are targeting US-backed Kurdish fighters.

Shocking pictures show dozens of tanks and armoured vehicles crossing over the border in a terrifying display of military might.

But the Syrian-Kurdish YPG militia has denied there is a full-scale invasion underway, claiming forces clashed in Afrin but Turkish soldiers were beaten back.

YPG official, Nouri Mahmoudi, said "all the Turkish military's ground attacks against Afrin have been repelled so far and they have been forced to retreat."

A statement from the militia said: "Our people are holding on to their land and do not accept surrender... we repeat our determination to protect our people in Afrin against the attacks."

Turkey has claimed the massive movement of military hardware into the country is simply to create a 30km-deep "safe zone" in the north of the country.

Saudi police say they have arrested everyone involved in a 'gay wedding' near the holy city of Mecca.

Footage showing two men walking side-by-side while confetti is sprayed over their heads and music is played in the background went viral when it was uploaded last week.

The duo can be seen proceeding down what appears to be an aisle while one of the men wears what looks like a wedding veil.

Now police have announced they arrested those involved in the supposed wedding after a man attending a festival at a resort near Mecca reported the incident.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Mecca Police explained: 'The man said people attending the event were surprised when a few young men entered the place and tried to perform a "gay wedding scene".'

The statement, translated from Arabic by Step Feed, said one of the men in the ceremony was a 'crossdresser'.

It went on: 'After the crossdresser and other people involved in the incident were identified, they were all arrested and their case will now be referred to the prosecution.'

Tense protests have erupted across Tunisia since a new budget took effect on Jan. 1 that raised taxes on gasoline, phone cards, internet usage, hotel rooms and even fruits and vegetables. The demonstrations have claimed at least one life, and have revived worries about the fragile political situation in Tunisia, the only country to emerge from the Arab Spring uprisings with the semblance of a stable democracy.

Those uprisings began in Tunisia in December 2010, when Mohamed Bouazizi, a 26-year-old high school dropout who worked as a fruit and vegetable vendor, set himself on fire in the town of Sidi Bouzid after being shaken down and humiliated by local officials. Thursday was the seventh anniversary of his death.

“People have to understand that the situation is extraordinary and their country is having difficulties, but we believe that 2018 will be the last difficult year for the Tunisians,” Prime Minister Youssef Chahed said on Tuesday, emphasizing his belief that the tax increases, while difficult, would help stabilize the economy.

INVASION AUSTRALIA: Crime Is SKYROCKETING in Australia As African Migrants Somehow Managed Their Way to the Nation 1000 S of Miles Apart

According to the Victorial Police Commissioner...

Sudanese and Somali-born Victorians are about five times more likely to commit crimes than the wider community, a trend that must be addressed to prevent Cronulla-style social unrest, police warn. The most common crimes committed by Somali and Sudanese-born Victorians are assault and robbery illustrating the trend towards increasingly violent robberies by disaffected African youths.

Are they mugging Australians because they are “disaffected” or because they make money that way?

‘Property is one of the issues, so they’re stealing iPhones or money or things of value,” Mr Cartwright said.

Apparently their disaffection takes the specific form of stealing iPhones. How oddly specific.

‘We’ve got to fix this now and make sure it doesn’t continue, so the kids who are now 10 years old aren’t in this offender bracket in five years’ time. So we don’t get the Cronullas happening,” Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Tim Cartwright said.

There is a slightly simpler fix, stop admitting Sudanese and Somali Muslims into Australia and let their crime statistics be a problem for back home. And while we’re at it, why not retune the immigration system so that it admits those categories of immigrants from groups with the lowest violent crime rates?

The police statistics show the rate of offending among the Sudanese community is 7109.1 per 100,000, while for Somali people it is 6141.8 per 100,000. The figure for the wider community is 1301.0 per 100,000.

That’s a 5-10 percent rate of crime in those communities alone. Why would you go on admitting people who are 5-10 percent likely to mug you as soon as they get off the plane?

Would you allow someone who is 5-10 percent statistically likely to assault you into your house, and if you wouldn’t, then why would you let him into your country?

Protests broke out in Bethlehem as Palestinians– Muslim and Christian alike, as Patriarch Theophilos III arrived in Bethlehem to celebrate Christmas services on January 6, 2018.

The head of the Greek Orthodox church has been accused of selling off large parts of land to unknown businessmen in multi-million dollar deals.

The protests have united Palestinians of both Muslim and Orthodox Christian background against the largely-ethnic Greek-born leadership of the Church.

Angry protesters chanted and threw eggs at the convoy of the Patriarch Theophilos III, who was visiting the Church of the Nativity for services marking the Orthodox Christmas Eve.

Many Orthodox Christians, including those in Jerusalem, celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on January 7.

Theophilos has been at the epicentre of public anger after allegations emerged that he was pandering to Israeli interests by selling off land to hardline Jewish settlers in prime locations in Jerusalem’s Old City, areas that were sacred to the Christian community, as well as the city’s Muslim Palestinians.

A protest calling for the removal of Theophilos III was also held in September following the publication of reports claiming that he had colluded with a hard-line Jewish settler organization.

OVERHEAD ANGLE Shows Hundreds of African Migrants Destroying the Spanish Enclave of Melilla

    moku 1085 1

More than 200 African migrants stormed over a high double fence between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla on Saturday, officials said, leaving some of them and a police officer injured.

A total of 209 people from sub-Saharan Africa seeking to get to Europe forced their way across the fence in Sunday afternoon, the central government’s representative office in Melilla said in a statement.

The police officer who was injured was “attacked by an immigrant with one of the hooks they use to clamber up the fence” as he tried to stop them, the statement said, adding the implement cut his earlobe.

In order to get across, migrants often use hooks and shoes studded with nails.

Four of the migrants, meanwhile, were sent to hospital for minor injuries, it added.

Mobile phone footage broadcast by Spanish media showed a group of migrants running through the streets of the city.

They have since been taken to a migrant detention centre.

The barrier is composed of two 6m-high fences, with criss-crossing steel cables in between.

Melilla and Ceuta, another Spanish enclave nearly 400km away on the north coast of Africa, are often used as entry points into Europe for African migrants.

They have the only two land borders between Africa and the European Union.

Over the years, thousands of migrants have attempted to cross the 12km frontier between Melilla and Morocco, or the 8km border at Ceuta, by climbing the border fences, swimming along the coast or hiding in vehicles.

Spain is increasingly targeted by people desperate to reach Europe from Africa, with the number of migrants reaching the country in 2017 hitting a record high of nearly 22 900, according to EU border agency Frontex.

This was more than double the previous record set in 2016.

At least 30 people were killed and 70 others injured in four explosions in Syria's northwestern city of Idlib on Sunday.

According to an Anadolu Agency correspondent in the region, four car bomb blasts occurred in an area in the city center where vehicles were parked.

Photos and video from the activist-run Thiqa News Agency and Baladi News Agency show heavy damage along what appears to be a major avenue in the city, with several buildings damaged and vehicles overturned.

Ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the explosion site and efforts are under way to pull out the bodies and rescue the injured trapped under the rubble of the targeted building and neighboring houses, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The monitor said the explosions targeted the headquarters of an opposition faction in Idlib.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombings.

The city and the province are controlled by several rebel factions and insurgents vying for dominance, the most powerful being an al-Qaida-linked group, Tahrir al-Sham.

The Syrian army and its allies launched an offensive in October to recapture the provinces of Idlib and Hama, and it has since been making swift advances.

The Syrian army lost Idlib to insurgents when the provincial capital fell in 2015. It became the only province fully under opposition control.

Iran's army chief declared on Thursday that police had quelled anti-government unrest that has killed 21 people but that his troops were ready to intervene if needed, as authorities staged more pro-government rallies.

The protests, which seem spontaneous and without a unifying leader, erupted a week ago in Iran's second city of Mashhad over economic hardships - mostly high youth unemployment, high living costs and alleged corruption.

"Although this blind sedition was so small that a portion of the police force was able to nip it in the bud ... you can rest assured that your comrades in the Islamic Republic's army would be ready to confront the dupes of the Great Satan (United States)," Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi was quoted in official media as saying.

Iran's vastness as well as restrictions on independent media make it hard to determine the breadth and depth of the unrest.

The semi-official labor news agency ILNA said the government on Thursday lifted restrictions on Instagram, one of the social media tools used to mobilize protesters. But access to a more widely used messaging app, Telegram, remained blocked, suggesting authorities remained uneasy about protest threats.

REVEALED! One of Those North Korean Missile Tests Actually Failed and Bombed Their Own Country

    moku 1526 0

What happens when a North Korean ballistic missile test fails in flight and explodes in a populated area? On April 28, 2017, North Korea launched a single Hwasong-12/KN17 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) from Pukchang Airfield in South Pyongan Province (the Korean People’s Army’s Air and Anti-Air Force Unit 447 in Ryongak-dong, Sunchon City, to be more precise). That missile failed shortly after launch and crashed in the Chongsin-dong, in North Korean city of Tokchon, causing considerable damage to a complex of industrial or agricultural buildings.

According to a U.S. government source with knowledge of North Korea’s weapons programs who spoke to The Diplomat, the missile’s first stage engines failed after approximately one minute of powered flight, resulting in catastrophic failure. The missile never flew higher than approximately 70 kilometers. The location of the missile’s eventual impact was revealed exclusively to The Diplomat and evidence of the incident can be independently corroborated in commercially available satellite imagery from April and May 2017.

The April 28 failure merits close analysis, especially as North Korea continues to carry out flight-testing of its various ballistic missile platforms from a range of new test sites. In 2017, North Korea has introduced new sites for missile testing, arguably to demonstrate the flexibility of its Strategic Rocket Force. It has even carried out ballistic missile launches from a restricted area at Pyongyang’s Sunan Airport, which also serves as the country’s primary civil aviation facility and the entrypoint for most non-Chinese foreign visitors to North Korea. The potential for similar accidents occurring over Pyongyang, the country’s capital, or other populated regions remains high, especially with untested systems.
