Mosab Hassan Yousef, also known as "Son of Hamas," the title of his 2010 autobiography, is a Palestinian who worked undercover for Israel's internal security service "Shin Bet" from 1997-2007.
Yousef condemned his Islamic upbringing and grooming to be a terrorist by his father, a Hamas leader, in discussing his life of espionage, becoming an informant for Israel, to a captive audience of an estimated 500 people at the Jewish Federation of Broward County Community Celebration event that took place recently at the Signature Grand in Davie.
Yousef spoke with much passion of the hypocrisy of his life to "be raised rigidly to be a terrorist and never question anything I was told about Islam. In the rigid Islamic system, you will be killed if you praise Israel. Much of Islam is about destroying Jews and Israel."
He also spoke against the belief of President Barack Obama that America is fighting terrorists and that is separate from the idea that Islam is a religion of peace.
"Whenever Obama speaks about Islam being a religion of peace, he encourages terrorism. The Islam religion states that you can't make friends with your enemy, which is Israel and the Jewish people. Islam is not a religion of peace."
"Those that believe Islam is a religion of peace are believing in an illusion," he emphasized.
