Police have released footage of a man being kicked off a tram platform on to the tracks. The 23-year-old victim arrived at Didsbury Village Metrolink station in Manchester at the same time as a man and two women at about 10.50pm on Friday October 13. The pensioner is recovering at home after he suffered a heart attack and was treated for head injuries. Detective Constable Phil Whiting, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “Around the time of both incidents there weren’t a lot of people around. However, I’m sure that by looking at what the people in the footage were wearing, someone will remember them being together. “I appreciate the man has his face covered but it may be you recognise the way he walks or the clothes that he is wearing. “We need to speak to these people as a matter of urgency so I want people to really study the footage; their faces, the way they are holding themselves and how they are acting. You may have seen them holding bottles of wine or a metal bar. “If you know who they are or saw them around the time of either incident, please call us.” Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 6153 quoting reference number 2533 of 13/10/17, or independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

They beat and kick him and leave him sprawled on the pavement. The gang then climb into his car and try to drive off - but they don't count on the community spirit of those who witnessed the attack. Meanwhile the trapped crooks try desperately to ram a car parked in front of them out of the way. Some of the vigilantes run back to their houses and collect some pipes with which to fight the would-be crooks. Finally, the thugs give up and flee on foot, but are slapped and clubbed as they run a gauntlet of vigilantes between them and their getaway car. In CCTV footage from the hotel, the helmeted thief is seen casually strolling up to the desk before producing a weapon, which he pointed at the staff member. The shocked worker immediately pulled draws from the cash register, and the crook helped himself to the contents, which he loaded into a bag. He then attempted to leave by the wrong exit before being directed by the victim, and pulled out phone cables to prevent him calling emergency services. Officers believe that two hours before the hotel robbery, the suspect attempted to rob a shop while wearing a distinctive jacket carrying the world 'Interpol', and using the same gun. In that instance the owner blocked his way, and the would-be thief ran off empty handed. Police arrested the Brit today with the Civil Guard tweeting: "Guardia Civil Mijas # Málaga arrests an "imperial soldier" for robbing a hotel with a helmet and everything! (no kidding)." A firearm was found when the man's home was raided, together with the Interppol jacket and his Star War disguise. He has been remanded in custody accused of robbery with violence and intimidation.
